Plastic Surgery FAQ

Choosing to have plastic surgery in Sacramento or Roseville isn’t a decision that can be made lightly. On this page, you will find answers to many common questions about plastic surgery. Dr. Green’s goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to make the best choice possible.

To speak with Dr. Green directly, request a consultation online, or call (916) 929-1833 to make your appointment.

What can I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit to our Sacramento plastic surgery practice will include a personal consultation with Dr. Green. He will ask you questions about which procedure you are interested in and clarify your expectations about the results. He makes every effort to ensure that you feel empowered, rather than pressured, to make the right decisions about your plastic surgery.

If you choose to go ahead with your procedure, you can then schedule an appointment for surgery with one of our patient coordinators. Your patient coordinator will provide you with everything from financing options to pre- and post-operative instructions.

Am I a good candidate for plastic surgery?

Generally, you are a good candidate if you are in good health and have realistic expectations about what plastic surgery can achieve. When you come in for your consultation, Dr. Green will assess your overall health and determine whether you would benefit from surgery.

What is the right age for plastic surgery?

There is no “right” age for plastic surgery. Each person and each procedure must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Dr. Green performs plastic surgery on men and women of all ages. If he doesn’t believe that you are ready for a particular procedure, or if he thinks you would benefit more from a different treatment, he will give you his honest opinion.

How much will plastic surgery cost?

The cost of cosmetic surgery will vary by procedure. In some cases, such as breast reconstruction following a mastectomy, insurance may cover all or part of your surgical costs.

Although all surgery comes with a price, Dr. Green wants to help make financing plastic surgery as convenient as possible for you. Our offices in Sacramento and Roseville accept cash, check and credit card payments. We also partner with financing programs such as CareCredit® and M-Lend Finance, which allow you to make affordable payments that fit within your budget.

What happens during the consultation?

Dr. Green meets with each patient to conduct a pre-surgical evaluation. He will ask you about your health history and take specific measurements in order to develop a detailed surgical plan. You will be able to view before-and-after photos of other patients who had the same procedure so that you can get a general idea of what to expect regarding your surgical outcome. The consultation is also your opportunity to discuss your goals for surgery and to ask Dr. Green any questions you may have. Dr. Green wants to be sure that you feel safe, secure and well informed before any procedure.

Why is board certification important?

Certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery ensures a plastic surgeon’s expertise, specialized training and experience. Being a board-certified plastic surgeon requires meeting the qualifications and ongoing educational requirements of the ABPS.

Once these standards have been met, board-certified plastic surgeons in Sacramento must demonstrate best practices in terms of patient safety, communication and ethics in order to maintain their certification.

How much recovery time should I expect?

Every person responds to surgery differently. How quickly you recuperate will depend on your body’s ability to heal and the extent of surgery. Most of Dr. Green’s patients are back to work in 1 or 2 weeks. If necessary, you will be provided with pain medication after your procedure to help minimize any discomfort.
